Apr 2026 K-12 outreach with CMU's Gelfand center. We used Claude Code to enable 10-12 year olds without any prior experience with programming to prototype three different mobile health and sensing systems. Within a few hours, students were able to make (1) an acoustic doppler gesture recognition system using the laptop's speaker and microphone (2) measure photoplethysmography from fingers using the smartphone camera and (3) capture step counts from the smartphone's motion sensor.
